What is the Master of Management program?
The Master of Management (MMgt) program is a business and management degree with a digital focus. Build your leadership and communication skills so you can take your career to the next level.
Build a strong base in business principles and learn to make data-driven decisions with this 45-credit graduate-level degree. Through hands-on experience and academic preparation, position yourself to launch a new business or help existing operations adapt in a rapidly changing digital economy.

UNF’s MMgt program has NCMA designation from CIM | Chartered Managers Canada.
Students currently enrolled in the MMgt program are entitled to a free Associate Membership with the association, giving UNF students the chance to belong to Canada’s chartered management and leadership association while earning their degree

Learn to think like an entrepreneur through innovation and entrepreneurship. Identify business opportunities, develop business plans, and implement successful strategies while building essential management skills in entrepreneurship. You’ll get a practical opportunity to apply this knowledge to starting up and managing growth in entrepreneurship for a for-profit or social enterprise.
Emerging Technology
Gain the skills needed to understand the countless opportunities emerging technologies present to business operations now and into the future. You’ll develop a technology proposal and implementation plan for a for-profit or non-profit organization.
Course highlights
Year 1, Term 1 courses
Introduction to Management
Introduction to Management covers key concepts and skills, including organizational structures, human resources, change management, strategic management, leadership, and innovation. Integrating theory with practice, the course uses case studies and projects to develop critical thinking, strategic analysis, and communication skills for diverse leadership roles.
Finance for Managers
Finance for Managers equips students with essential financial knowledge and skills for managerial decision-making. Covering finance fundamentals, corporate structure, accounting, financial analysis, capital raising, investment strategies, forecasting, and risk management, it also includes entrepreneurial finance and feasibility studies. Students develop skills to analyze data and manage financial resources.
Marketing and Sales
This course provides a foundation in marketing and sales principles, covering customer needs, market segmentation, strategic planning, trend analysis, sales forecasting, and digital marketing. Students learn to analyze challenges, develop innovative strategies, and implement them effectively. Through theory, case studies, and real-world applications, they gain skills for success in dynamic marketing and sales environments.

Year 1, Term 2 courses
Organizational Theory and Leadership
This course explores organizational structures, processes, and culture, and their impact on employee behavior. It covers contemporary leadership theories and practices, examining individual, team, and organizational factors. Students receive practical training to understand and enhance their aptitudes, skills, and leadership capacity in dynamic settings.
Data Analytics for Management
Data Analytics for Management offers an introduction to the collection, analysis and application of data to solve business programs ranging from market analysis to financial projections. Students will develop their hands on skills with basic statistical and financial analysis applied to decision making.
Introduction to Entrepreneurship
An introduction to strategy processes in large and small organizations with a focus on entrepreneurship and start-ups. The course will emphasize the importance of understanding the theory of entrepreneurship and innovation as creating new approaches whether for profit or social gains or in existing or new organizations.
Introduction to Emerging Technologies
A review of key technology trends and their impact on organizational strategies and processes as well as markets and industries. Building on basic frameworks connecting technology and strategy it will also expose students to emerging technologies, their impact and trajectory as well as reinforcing the importance of technology, disruption and innovation.
Year 1, Term 3 courses
Project Management
A review of project management principles and planning/control techniques. Students learn to use computerized project management tools applicable to startups and established organizations. The course aligns with the Project Management Institute's Body of Knowledge, covering ten knowledge areas and five process groups, providing instructional hours applicable towards Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification.
Entrepreneurship stream
Finding Business Opportunities
Building on foundational concepts, this course explores advanced theories and methodologies for researching and identifying new business opportunities. Through case studies and hands-on learning, students develop new business ideas, analyze successful startups, and cultivate innovation to translate their ideas into viable ventures.
Financing New Ventures (Entrepreneurship stream)
Investigate the range of financing sources available to start-ups across various states, including the terms, criteria, and conditions for securing funds. This course explores the options open to start-ups, provides insights into crafting effective financial pitches, and examines essential principles of financial management, risk mitigation, and regulatory reporting tailored to the start-up environment.
Emerging Technology stream
Technology Trends and Applications (Emerging Technology stream)
Technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality/virtual reality, Internet of Things and their potential to transform organizations across sectors are explored. Grounded in theories of innovation and building an understanding of technology diffusion and adoption, the course will provide an understanding of the components of advanced technologies, their applications and the issues to be considered in their implementation.
Business Process Design (Emerging Technology stream)
This course covers business process design, equipping students to analyze, improve, and redesign processes. Topics include process types, the devil quadruple, takt/cycle time, flowcharts, activity networks, Lean, and Six Sigma. Students learn process simulation and apply their knowledge in a semester-long project analyzing and improving a real-world business process.
Year 2, Term 1 courses
User Experience Design
User Experience Design focuses on customer needs and their journey, whether for consumer products or business services. Building on the established theories of as well as industry best practices, this course is to provide a series of experiential exercises useful for product and service design as well as the design and implementation of new technologies.
Research and Technology Skills Development
A set of learning modules designed to prepare students for their capstone project. Based on individual interest and needs, students will select six 6-hour modules on topics such as research methods, data analysis, technology skills, diversity and inclusion and other pertinent topics required for successful completion of their capstone project.
Emerging Technology stream
Technology Use Case and Implementation
Develops the students’ understanding of how technologies are used in organizations and the core elements of assessing the potential of technology to support business goal and objectives. The course will address systems development concepts, technology acquisition and key technologies and software that are used in modern organizations.
Entrepreneurship stream
Developing a Business Plan
Explores the components of a business plan, the data required to assess opportunities and understand markets and financial projection. Students will have the opportunity to collect and analyze data relevant to developing a plan and will present their initial concept in a pitch competition to industry partners.
Year 2, Term 2 courses
Emerging Technology stream
Capstone
Technology Consulting Study offers an opportunity to synthesize and apply knowledge and skills regarding the feasibility assessment, development and implementation planning for new technology in an organization. The project will consist of a series of modules and activities and culminate with a report including recommendations.
Entrepreneurship stream
Capstone
Developing a Business Plan offers an opportunity to synthesize learning for the program and apply it to developing a for profit or social enterprises and to pitch for funding working in cooperation with a community incubator. A final report will be required.

Admission requirements for the Master of Management program

Academic information
Applicants must meet the following minimum conditions for admission:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Completion of a recognized undergraduate degree equivalent to the four-year honours degree standard in an appropriate specialization, or relevant bridging studies, with CGPA of 3.0 (on 4.33 scale) or better

Applicants who completed undergraduate studies outside Canada must also submit:

The Office of the Registrar had dedicated more than $15 million in scholarships, awards and financial support to students in 2025. Entrance Awards are for newly admitted international and domestic students, while Academic Scholarships are for those entering the second term of their program.

Do I need a business background for this program?
We encourage anyone with an interest in management to apply. The MM is an opportunity for you to augment your undergraduate degree from any discipline with a strong foundation in business principles and management studies, helping you prepare to become the type of well-rounded leader the world needs.
Will I gain practical experience?
There are several opportunities for you to gain practical experience through this program, including internships, work-integrated learning opportunities and capstone research projects. Do I need to take the GRE?
