Shweta Dharia

Shweta Dharia is an accomplished marketing and communications professional with over 20 years of international experience in business management, strategy, and media. Her career spans across various corporate and academic sectors, where she has combined industry expertise with a strong focus on teaching and curriculum development. 

Shweta holds a master’s in management and multiple postgraduate qualifications in marketing, digital media, and journalism. She has consulted for startups, small businesses, and non-profit organizations, designing marketing strategies, content development plans, and communication initiatives that drive business growth. 

In academia, Shweta is known for her student-centric approach, using experiential learning to ensure students can apply marketing and communication theories to real-world business scenarios. She has taught business and marketing courses at institutions such as University of Toronto, Trent University, Algoma University, Yorkville University and other prominent educational institutions across Ontario focusing on strategic communication, digital marketing, and global business management. 

According to her learning should be fun and tailored to students needs. She realised that when she worked with an NGO where she designed an aftercare program for kids from four to 16 years of age living in government care homes, focusing on acquiring life skills and soft skills for integrating them into society as successful citizens. 

Outside of work she loves to travel, is an avid reader, and also a lifelong learner. Her appetite for exploring new subjects is insatiable and she also loves to study languages and cultures as a hobby.

Keynote speaker at The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry in 2010. 

Presented key industry statistics at the minor metals and manganese battery event in Nanning, China in 2012. 

Represented the International Manganese Institute for conferences across South-Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Spain, Germany, China, Mexico and UK. 

Published book of four-line poetry called Just like that in 2001. 

“Love is not a strait thing” documentary featured at the New York LGBTQ festival in 2004.
