Touraj BaniRostam

A lifelong learner, Touraj BaniRostam began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Hardware Engineering, followed by a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, where he focused on odometry errors in mobile robots. He then completed a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, researching self-management in multiagent systems. His interest in cognitive science led him to pursue a Master of Science in Psychology, deepening his understanding of the field. He furthered his studies with a Master of Science in Philosophy of Mind, writing his thesis on computational embodied cognition. 

As a professor, Touraj’s research interests span computational cognition, machine learning, data science, data mining, and optimization. He has supervised or advised over 80 Master of Science theses and five PhD dissertations and has contributed to or coauthored more than 90 papers published in international journals and conference proceedings. 

Touraj’s teaching style is interactive and student-centered, focusing on engaging students through active participation and discussions. He is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to contribute.
