Primary Purpose
We are seeking a qualified Academic Manager to join our dynamic team at the University of Niagara Falls (UNF). The Academic Manager reports to the Vice-President Academic and works with the Associate Deans to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of Academic programs. The Academic Manager supervises the Academic Administration team and the Academic Advisors.
The Academic Manager is also responsible for ensuring that all academic records are maintained and up to date as per the relevant UNF policies and procedures. The Academic Manager will be a key member of the Academic Leadership team of the University.
Specific Responsibilities
The Academic Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Ensuring all faculty members, both full-time and Sessional, receive a full orientation and are allocated a mentor in consultation with the appropriate Associate Dean.
- Working with the Registrar’s Office on the academic timetable, ensuring that any special requirements are recorded and taken into account when allocating space, times for classes, laboratories etc.
- Keep complete and up-to-date course syllabi, along with any academic records as requested by the VP Academic.
- Coordinate the production and submission of new program proposal documentation to the Provincial Ministry of Colleges and Universities and any review panel evaluation site visits.
- Work with the Associate Deans to ensure that all academic policies and procedures are adhered to at all times, undertaking administrative audits of records as and when required to ensure compliance.
- Work with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure that the academic working environment is safe and healthy for all employees, students and visitors.
- Directly supervise the academic administration team, ensuring that the Academic Leaders receive any and all administrative assistance and support required in order to carry out their daily responsibilities.
- Directly supervise the Work-Integrated Learning Coordinator, ensuring close and ongoing consultation with the academic program teams at all times.
- Liaise with the UNF Facilities and Operations Manager regarding any and all facility or operational needs as they relate to the delivery of academic programs.
- Compile and present reports on the academic operation as and when requested.
- Manage and schedule teaching observation sessions as per the UNF holistic evaluation and teaching guidelines.
- Support the Director of the Centre for Teaching Excellence in the scheduling of professional development training sessions as and when required.
- Work with HR as and when required to ensure that job Descriptions are updated and that probationary reviews are carried out in a timely manner as per the UNF policy.
- Be fully acquainted with all UNF Academic Policies and advise support academic colleagues as and when required.
- Schedule and support the program Advisory Committee meetings for all academic programs ensuring that all meetings are formally documented and those minutes filed.
- Working with the Director of the Centre for Teaching Excellence ensure that all end of course student evaluations are completed at the appropriate times.

Education and Experience:
- Post Secondary Degree in Business and/or Administration or other relevant subject.
- Post graduate Degree or equivalent (Masters preferred but not required).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of academic administrative experience in a post-secondary setting.
- Proficient in Office 365, Zoom, Brightspace (LMS), Microsoft Office Suits (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
