Position Job Title: Purchasing Officer

Primary Purpose
Reporting to the Finance Supervisor, the Purchasing Officer will provide support for the day-to-day clerical and administrative tasks by coordinating with various department heads and budget owners to facilitate an efficient purchasing and recording process.
Specific Responsibilities
- Assist various departments to create purchase requisitions by following the approved purchasing standards and policies
- Monitor and analyze ongoing contracts and coordinate with internal departments for any renewals
- Assist with new vendor registration and evaluation processes
- Maintain vendor records and profiles within the Sage Intacct accounting system
- Prepare Sage Intacct entries and reconciliations under direction of the Finance Supervisor
- Manage the lifecycle of purchase order activity and coordinate with the approval authorities as needed
- Procure goods and services and maintain professional relationships with vendors
- Assist in comparing and analyzing costs to determine best value for money and make appropriate recommendations
- Coordinate and work closely with the accounting team to ensure seamless flow of purchase order/invoice documentation
- Track purchasing activities and KPI metrics such as PO activity, Open POs, and turnaround time.
- Provide regular support on updating commitment and variance reports as well as tracking actuals
- Participate in financial reporting and analysis function
- Other duties as required by Finance Supervisor
Position Requirements
As a successful candidate, must possess, and be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:

- Experience working with Sage Intacct an asset
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Flexible and adaptable to change
Education and Experience:
Relevant purchasing certification is a plus.
Degree/Diploma in Business, Commerce or Accounting
Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar field.
Contracts and vendor management experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel and Word.
