Housing Services
The University of Niagara Falls Canada is committed to helping you find an affordable, convenient, and comfortable place to live. With the help of our housing partners, we are ready to assist you during and after your search for a new home.
Finding housing
Finding a place to live is one of the first things you want to do after receiving your admission letter from UNF and deciding to study with us. Even with our guidance, you are still responsible for finding and securing your own housing for the duration of your studies. It is important to plan a realistic housing budget and begin your search for housing before booking a plane ticket.
Comprehensive housing support begins before you arrive in Ontario and continues throughout your studies at UNF. Our housing coordinator offers support in your search for off-campus housing and other housing-related matters through one-to-one meetings, live sessions, and email.
If you have any questions or require support with housing, contact our housing coordinator. Please include your Student ID in the subject line.

UNF housing partners
The scenic city of Niagara Falls is home to thousands of students yearly. So, whether you’re relocating from out of town or coming from another province or country, you will be joining a thriving local community of students. To make your transition easier and support your housing needs, the University of Niagara Falls Canada has developed partnerships with SpacesShared, and 4Stay to make safe and affordable housing available to you based on your preference.
UNF does not supervise or regulate rentals but have made many resources available including the portals below to assist in your search for housing through our Housing team. We strongly recommend that all housing requests be made no later than one month prior to arrival.
4Stay
UNF has partnered with 4Stay to offer students a variety of housing options for rent near the University campus. It is easy to search online for fully furnished apartments with all utilities included, private rooms, shared rooms, and entire homes for a term, a year, month-to-month or short-term rentals. Also, students can find a roommate from UNF to live with.
SpacesShared
SpacesShared provides students with a place to search for a safe and affordable place to live, and an opportunity to reduce monthly rent by assisting their host with household tasks.
Niagara Homestay
Homestays are a great way to learn about Canadian culture and immerse yourself in a local family. Many students find benefits to a homestay as it is generally cheaper than just renting.
Alternative housing options
You can also search for accommodation using external sites such as Kijiji, RentBoard, Apartment.com, and Facebook Marketplace. Here are some alternative sites to help your search:

Navigating the rental process
Step One: Determine your budget
Evaluate your financial resources and consider affordable options provided by our housing partners. You can also explore opportunities for reduced rent through SpacesShared.
Step Two: Explore listing platforms
Search through the websites of our housing partners, or utilize external platforms to find available rental options.
Step Three: Select a room or home that meets your needs
For international students new to Canada, consider fully furnished accommodations, such as those listed on 4Stay. Additionally, furnished rooms can be found on various housing sites. It’s advisable to arrange housing at least one month prior to your arrival.
Step Four: Reach out to the landlord
Contact the landlord or property lister to express your interest in the accommodation.
Step Five: Verify legitimacy
Take precautions to ensure the listing is not a scam.
Step Six: Seek assistance if needed
Contact UNF’s housing coordinator for guidance or support at housing@unfc.ca.
Step Seven: Finalize the lease agreement
Sign the lease document once all terms are agreed upon.
Step Eight: Arrange rent payments
Ensure timely payment of rent, including the first and last month’s rent as per the lease agreement.
