New ESL pathway established between University of Niagara Falls Canada and Niagara College

The University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF) is expanding its relationship with another post-secondary institution in Niagara.

On Oct. 25, UNF signed a new English as a Second Language (ESL) articulation agreement with Niagara College (NC). This latest agreement marks an extension of the two institutions current collaboration, further strengthening their educational partnership.

Building on the successful articulation pathways already in place, this new agreement introduces an ESL pathway to facilitate the admission of qualified students from NC into various UNF programs. It was formally signed by David Gray, Provost and Vice-President, Academic at UNF and Sean Coote, Vice President, International at NC.

Under this agreement, UNF will recognize graduates who have successfully completed NC’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Level 5 or ESL Online Level 10. Students achieving an overall score of 75% with no individual component below 60%, equivalent to IELTS 6.5, will meet the English language proficiency requirements for both undergraduate and graduate programs at UNF.

Those with an overall score of 70% or higher, with no individual component below 50%, equivalent to IELTS 6.0, will be eligible to apply for UNF’s English for Academic Purpose – EAP 030 program.

The pathway not only simplifies the transition for NC students but also expands opportunities for international students aiming to continue their academic journey at UNF.

“This latest collaboration with Niagara College aligns with UNF’s mission to enhance educational accessibility for our students,” said Gray. “Partnerships like this help us to streamline the admissions process and recognize prior learning.”

Both institutions are dedicated to enhancing the student experience through collaborative efforts, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to excel in their chosen fields.
