Each November, Canadians come together to celebrate the importance of accessing meaningful work opportunities as part of the annual Canada Career Month initiative from Canadian Career Development Foundation.
The Career Services department at the University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF) is looking forward to joining in the celebration this year by hosting a series of events dedicated to promoting career development.
“Career Month highlights the importance of accessing career services and education, ensuring that individuals across Canada are better prepared to pursue their careers and maximize their potential in the evolving labour market,” said Kimberly Mikalauskas, Career Advisor at UNF.
To kick off Career Month, the university is inviting members of the community to join students, faculty and staff for an online panel discussion, Journey to Work and Life in Canada. Taking place Friday, Nov. 1, from noon to 1:30 p.m., professionals who have chosen to start or continue their careers in Canada will share their personal stories and insights on relocating to a new country. Following the panel discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session and students can begin thinking about their own career paths after graduation. Those who are interested in attending can register online to receive the webinar link.
Throughout the month, a wide range of workshops, webinars, and peer-to-peer groups will be available to UNF students. Highlights include Mastering Email Etiquette, Wellness in the Workplace, LinkedIn 101: Profile to Professional, and the Peer Career Circle. Additionally, students can participate in the LinkedIn-Ready Photoshoot to get a professional LinkedIn profile photo. More details and registration information can be found on the campus events calendar or by contacting Career Services at careerservices@unfc.ca.
“We have a great line-up of events scheduled throughout the month,” added Mikalauskas. “It’s a great opportunity for students to get involved and connect with the resources that are available to them.”
To encourage participation, students attending events will be entered into a draw to win one of three Career Month prize packs. Each pack includes exclusive networking sessions with UNF senior leadership, access codes to career assessments, professional development resources, and more.
Career Month at UNF offers students a unique chance to advance their career development while connecting with key resources, professionals, and opportunities available to them.
