Position Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Location: University of Niagara Falls Canada campus (on-site)
Reports To: Director, Human Resources

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with university and regulatory standards. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Manager:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in alignment with university goals and legal requirements.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective HR investigations and handle employee relations issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and management on conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires.
  • Implement and oversee performance management processes, including appraisals, feedback, and development plans.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, local employment laws and university policies. Keep abreast of changes in employment/human rights related legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, JHSC and other applicable legislation.
  • Identify training needs and create or coordinate professional development programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Develop and analyze HR metrics to inform strategic decisions. Prepare and present regular reports to senior management.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits.
  • Oversee the administration of the payroll process to ensure reporting and post payroll records have been reconciled and analyzed.
  • Complete compensation analysis on positions and benchmarking
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Post Secondary Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of HR Leadership experience, preferably in a higher education setting, coupled with high growth environments.
  • CHRL certification preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience writing HR policies, procedures and implementing best practices
  • Experience in Talent Management, Performance Management, Organizational Development
  • Proficient in HR related software such as ADP WFN
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suits (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
